The fears do not seem justified. Benidorm’s hotel sector has expressed a certain uncertainty this year about the loyalty of the fundamental British market, but travelers from the United Kingdom do not seem to have lost their preference for the Alicante city at all. According to the index that Tripadvisor publishes every quarter analyzing the preferences of its numerous clients in the United Kingdom, Benidorm is the most desired international destination to travel this autumn.

Another Spanish destination, Adeje, in the Canary Islands, appears in second place in a Top-10 in which no other municipality in the Valencian Community appears and in which there is no presence of the Balearic Islands either.

In the top positions, the presence in third place of Dubai is striking, followed in fourth place by Antalya, a resort of growing fame on the so-called “turquoise coast” of Turkey, whose characteristics place it as a significant competitor in the segment of traditional traveler of the Costa Blanca.

Fifth place goes, on the contrary, to the Eternal City, Rome, an urban, historical and cultural destination that is not competition for the previous ones.

Tripadvisor’s Autumn Travel Index analyzes the plans of British travelers for the period from September to November, using a combination of search data and a survey that the company conducts among 2,400 users. Positions 5 to 10 are occupied in this order by Amsterdam, Paris, Benalmádena (Costa del Sol), Barcelona and New York.

The study also reveals the 10 international destinations that have grown the most in popularity among British travelers since last year, what Tripadvisor calls trending international destinations, potential future rivals for those, like Benidorm, that currently lead tourists’ preferences.

That list is led by Hong Kong, followed by Mecca (Saudi Arabia), New Delhi (India), Doha (Qatar), Nerja, Krakow (Poland), Copenhagen, Seville and Torremolinos.

Finally, the study points out the domestic destinations that Britons most want to visit, where London, as usual, occupies first place, followed by Blackpool, Edinburgh, Liverpool and York.
