The beech forests of Berguedà, specifically in the valley of the Bastareny river, near Bagà, already show the leaves with the colors of autumn, as seen in the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia.

In Catalonia, there are well-known beech forests, even crowded in autumn, but you can also enjoy others with fewer people and even alone, such as in Berguedà or Osona.

Possibly, the best known is the beech forest of La Fageda d’en Jordà, which belongs to the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of Garrotxa, in Girona.

The beech is a deciduous tree, which means that it leaves a carpet of leaves at our feet when they reach maturity and fall off.

It is a majestic tree, with a longevity of close to 250 years and that can reach 35-40 meters in height, with a straight trunk and an oval crown in its upper third.

The beech needs fresh and fertile soils. In autumn, it is a pleasure to walk through the beech forests, forests that take us fully into this season of the year where brown and ocher colors prevail in nature.
