Barcelona City Council detects up to 22 deficiencies related to security in four nightclubs in the Ciutat Vella district. This is the balance of the ex officio inspections carried out by municipal inspectors and the Urban Police in these establishments on this side of the city during recent weeks.
Barcelona has 113 nightlife establishments of this type, and 22 of them are located in this district. Halloween celebrations are presumed to be massive. These businesses are located mainly on the Paseo Marítim, Plaza Reial, La Rambla and the Raval and Gòtic neighborhoods.
Those responsible for these establishments have one month to resolve these circumstances. If they do not do so, the City Council will issue the corresponding orders to cease activity. Most of these deficiencies, up to seven, relate to information signs and emergency lighting, and the rest to the maintenance of fire extinguishers and the arrangement of emergency doors and evacuation exits.
Since 2019, Barcelona City Council carried out 632 technical inspections to verify the technical conditions of the premises, mainly to ensure compliance with the different regulations regarding fires, evacuation routes and noise.
The inspectors also regularly carry out scheduled inspections with the Urban Police to check the administrative situation of the establishments.
