This Friday the presentation of the 23 new agents who join the Urban Guard corps took place in the amphitheater of Trafalgar Square in the Llefià neighborhood of Badalona (Barcelonès Nord) in an event open to the public. The new local police officers, 17 men and 6 women, received their credentials from the mayor, Xavier Garcia Albiol, accompanied by the councilor for Citizen Security, Juan Manuel Ruiz, the superintendent of the Urban Police, Conrado Fernández, and of commanders of the Mossos d’Esquadra and the National Police.

The mayor of Badalona, ??Xavier Garcia Albiol, in his welcome speech to the new officers, wanted to highlight that: “this is an act that is normally done at the Police Station, but we wanted to do it here, in the Llefià neighborhood, and before the neighbors, as a symbol of what the Urban Guard must represent, which is the proximity to the neighbors and their presence on the street”, also added the mayor “so that these new agents can verify that the residents of Badalona He loves and respects them.”

The mayor reiterated the municipal government’s commitment to improving material resources and increasing the number of police officers, which currently stands at 240 officers. In this sense, he highlighted that the Badalona City Council has already announced 46 new positions. With the incorporation of the 23 new agents and the new call, the mayor has indicated that “in a few months we will meet our objective of increasing the Urban Police staff by 100 more agents.”

The 23 new local police officers who received their credentials today will begin serving next Monday.
