The Badalona City Council (Barcelonès Nord) has launched a proximity police campaign in all the city’s commercial hubs so that merchants have direct communication with the Urban Guard agents. To facilitate the connection between the municipal police force and merchants, patrols of two police officers will visit the establishments to offer maximum collaboration, resolve doubts and facilitate the flow of information in both directions.

This campaign has started in recent days on Passeig de la Salut and will extend to the rest of the city’s commercial areas in the coming weeks. On these visits, the agents will be accompanied by the district councilor and the corresponding district coordinator in each case, with the desire to show institutional support and collect the demands and suggestions of the merchants.

The mayor of Badalona, ??Xavier Garcia Albiol, has stated that “this campaign will allow us to learn first-hand about the concerns of merchants and the situations they encounter in their daily lives and that concern them in relation to security.” He added that “from the Badalona government we are putting all the necessary means to improve security in the city, with the increase in the number of police officers on the streets” and insisted that “as long as there continue to be criminal acts in the city, I will not feel satisfied. For García Albiol, “that this effort to increase police presence is complemented by a constant dialogue with merchants should allow for improved prevention and reaction actions.”
