Ferran Adrià, for his “brilliant and extensive career as the person responsible for the culinary revolution that put Catalonia at the forefront of global gastronomy and as the conceptualizer of content such as Bullipedia”, has earned the Bite Honorary Award from the first edition of the Awards Bite and Mouth of the Generalitat. They were awarded tonight during the National Gala of Wine Tourism and Gastronomy, held at the National Theater of Catalonia in the presence of the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, and the Minister of Business and Employment, Roger Torrent.

These awards want to “recognize the fundamental role that creators of food and wine digital content play in promoting this type of tourism and, at the same time, value Catalonia as a reference food and wine destination worldwide.” The General Directorate of Tourism of the Generalitat has thus wanted to recognize the contribution of Ferran Adrià “to the dissemination of Catalan culinary culture”.

Within the Bite category, which takes into account food and wine dissemination in a global field of action, the Danish Peter Atzen has also been awarded the Best Foodie award, which distinguishes the person who develops the best global content in the food and wine field. We wanted to distinguish Peter Atzen for his promotion and dissemination work both for restaurants recognized by 50 Best Restaurants or Michelin and for street stalls. He is defined as an “inveterate foodie, specialized in Denmark and Scandinavian countries and is also an ambassador of Catalan cuisine when he visits us”. He collaborates with Word of Mouth.

The Best Wine Influencer award has been given to American Tom Matthews, for being considered the most influential person in the world in the field of wine content creation. His professional career and his special connection with Catalan wines have been rewarded. He began writing for the Wine Spectator trade magazine in 1987 and later became executive editor. Finally, the Brazilian Rafael Tonon has been distinguished with the Best food traveler award for the creation of gastronomic content related to travel. Tonon is described as a “tireless traveler and prestigious gastronomic journalist who feeds his social networks with what he discovers and eats around the world.” He collaborates with media such as Fine Dining Lovers or Eater and, recently, he has been distinguished as the best gastronomic journalist by Identità Golose.

On a national level, chef Nandu Jubany has been awarded the prize for best ambassador “for his tireless work in disseminating and maintaining Catalan cuisine and his use of social networks to share Catalan recipes with the world”; The contribution of the chef, writer and communicator Ada Parellada has been highlighted with the award for best prescriber of Catalan cuisine “for the decades of dissemination of Catalan cuisine, the commitment to sustainable food and the use of its social networks to inspire us let’s cook”; the career of the journalist Ruth Troyano has been awarded the prize for best wine prescriber and the contribution of the Dones del Mar association has been recognized with the prize for the best group “for being the group with the best digital presence related to Catalan wine and gastronomy ”.

The Bite i Mos Awards are part of the strategy for food and wine tourism in Catalonia 2022-2027. The objective of this plan, which has 7 million euros from European Next Generation funds and 32 projects, is “to make Catalonia an essential reference point for food and wine tourism.” The general director of Turisme de la Generalitat, Marta Domènech, affirms that these awards want to “showcase the good work that is done in Catalonia”. She also explained that “local work is rewarded and also international influencers, who are invited to get to know Catalonia and can fill social networks with their experiences.”
