The colony of Cal Prat, included within the municipal area of ??Puig-reig, is located between this town and Guixaró, in Baix Berguedà. These days you can visit with the colors of autumn, as can be seen in this photograph in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

The origins of the Cal Prat colony are due to Teodor Prat, an industrialist from Sallent (Bages) who bought, in 1870, the land where he later built a cotton yarn and fabric factory.

The main points of interest are the old factory, the church, the Torre de l’Amo, the director’s house (currently the headquarters of the Puig-reig Polyphonic) and the promenade next to the river.

Berguedà Francesc Joan Canals, master builder, was in charge of building the factory, the annexed industrial spaces and the first homes for the workers.

Later, the colony expanded with the construction of more homes and the owners also commissioned the construction of a church and a tower for their private use.

Located next to the Berga road, the Cal Prat neighborhood had its own downhill line for the Manresa-Berga train line since 1885.
