The vineyards of regions such as Bages or Anoia, in Central Catalonia, are showing off the most characteristic autumn colors these days, as can be seen in these photographs in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos captured in Mura and Bruc.
As you can see, at this time of year the vineyards have mutated from the summer green color of their buds to the yellowish and brown colors of autumn, waiting for the buds (leaves) to fall at the beginning of winter for their return to spring.
Now the farmers, once the grapes have been harvested, have taken the opportunity to till the land, to accumulate water in the soil and eliminate weeds.
And they will prune the vines, a key job during the winter, since the negative part of the vineyard is reduced, limiting its natural growth, to improve the quality of the grapes and their yield.
In the Bruc vineyards you can still see its leaves on the plants. This serves to illustrate the problem around how anomalous weather conditions have influenced vegetation so much.
