A strong explosion, initially gas, that occurred late on Tuesday night in a four-story block on Calle Goya in Valladolid has left at least 11 people injured, 10 of whom had to be transferred to centers hospitals in the capital, and has caused significant material damage to the affected building.

The event occurred at number 32 Calle Goya after 10:30 p.m., sources from the Valladolid Fire Department have confirmed to EFE, who have also indicated that the explosion would have occurred in a room on the ground floor of the building and that all indicates that it was a gas explosion.

“The flames have reached the top,” explained the firefighters, who are still working in the building to try to extinguish the fire that started after the explosion.

For its part, the Sacyl Health Emergency Service has confirmed the transfer of 10 affected people in four basic life support ambulances to the Río Hortega and Clínico hospitals in the capital of Valladolid.

To them is added one more person who has been treated by the emergency services at the scene of the event, according to EFE sources from the National Police, who have also indicated that “in principle it seems that the injured are not of great consideration”. .

Sacyl Emergencies has mobilized three advanced life support ambulances and five basic life support ambulances, five of which remain in place.

Along with both emergency services, members of the Local Police, National Police and Civil Protection have also been mobilized, the latter activated by the 112 Emergency Coordination Center.

Civil Protection has mobilized a Support and Emergency Unit (UALE) with 3 vehicles, tents, shelter material, lighting, blankets and a generator, explained the Castilla y León 112 Emergency Service via Twitter.

Local Police and Civil Protection have requested, through their accounts on the social network, that citizens not go to the scene “to facilitate the movement of emergency vehicles.”
