Antonio Balmón (PSC) won his fifth revalidation by an absolute majority and this Saturday he was invested again as mayor of Cornellà de Llobregat. He did it with 16 of the 25 votes, after adding the commons to his government.

Balmón began his speech condemning gender violence and asking for a minute of silence for the woman murdered in Cornellà a week ago. “We will not stop until we achieve the eradication of sexist violence”, said the mayor. “We will not give an inch in active equality policies. What’s more, we will expand them,” added the veteran politician, who has governed the town of Baix Llobregat since 2004.

“We have four years ahead of us to carry out a new cycle of transformation of the city,” Balmón proclaimed. “The fight is the same as always, against injustice and inequalities, impregnated with the usual values: freedom, equality and fraternity”, he has sentenced.

The opposition to the sociocomún government will be made up of 4 ERC councilors, 3 from the PP and 2 from the extreme right of Vox, which achieved representation in the municipal elections of 28-M.
