Andoni Iraola, coach of Rayo Vallecano, will not renew the contract that expires on June 30 and will not continue leading the Madrid team next season, sources from the club reported to EFE this Friday.

Rayo Vallecano’s idea was for Iraola to continue one more season at the Madrid club, which even transferred him a renewal offer a few weeks ago by certifying salvation, but the Basque coach has decided to end his time at the entity three years later upon arrival in June 2020.

Iraola will leave Rayo at the end of the season, after the two remaining league games against Villarreal and Mallorca, and he will do so with a service sheet full of successes.

In the first season, in Segunda, he promoted the team to the highest category; in the second he reached the semifinals of the Copa del Rey and certified his permanence in a comfortable way, the same as in the present, in which he has also achieved prestigious victories against Real Madrid and Barcelona and, despite the fact that they are remote, he still has options to enter European competition with two days to go.

The three good seasons he has spent at the helm of Rayo have revalued Iraola’s profile, in which several teams from both Spain and abroad have already shown interest. In fact, in the past winter market, Leeds United already wanted to take over his services, something that the coach himself recognized.
