A tornado formed this Thursday in the Tagus estuary, next to the Lisbon metropolitan area, causing several trees to fall and partially damaging some homes and businesses, according to Portuguese emergency services, which have no record of victims.

The spokesperson for the Portuguese Emergency and Civil Protection Authority Pedro Araújo explained to EFE that the tornado began at the beginning of the afternoon near the Vasco da Gama bridge and that, for about 30 minutes, it was felt on both banks of the Tagus. although it mainly affected the side furthest from the capital.

The commander specified that this atmospheric phenomenon left some fallen trees and communication poles in its wake, which affected homes and businesses and forced the evacuation of some buildings, but without causing casualties.
