An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter scale with an epicenter in the French region of Hautes-Pyrénées has been widely felt, without causing damage, largely in the Vall d’Arán -about 50 kilometers from the earthquake-, but also to a lesser extent in Pallars Sobirà and Alta Ribagorça and more slightly in other Pyrenean regions.

As reported by the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC), the seismographs detected the earthquake at 3:28 p.m., with an epicenter between the French towns of Héches and Arreau, near the Spanish border near Huesca.

The earthquake has been widely felt throughout the area of the epicenter, which occurred at a shallow depth, and also on the ground in northern Aragon, in much of the province of Lleida and Andorra.

This is one of the largest magnitude earthquakes recorded in recent times in the Pyrenees, a seismic zone where almost 800 low-magnitude earthquakes originate every year.

The last one registered in the Pyrenees was on March 10, with a magnitude of 2.4 degrees, although on March 22, 2022 one of 3.4 degrees was measured in the Girona region of Ripollès and on October 11, 2021 another of 3.6 degrees in the Lleida Pyrenees, always without causing damage.
