An earthquake of magnitude 3.1 on the Richter scale was registered this Saturday morning in the Baix Empordà, according to the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC).
The earthquake occurred at 8:12 a.m., at a shallow depth and the epicenter was located in Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
The earthquake did not cause damage, but it was widely felt in the south of Baix Empordà and also in Selva and Gironès.
The 112 emergency telephone number has received three calls and the ICGC has collected more than a hundred surveys from citizens reporting that they have noticed the tremor.
Civil Protection has put the Sismicat plan on pre-alert. Less than 12 hours ago, another earthquake of magnitude 2.8 had already occurred in the Vidreres area (Selva), less than 25 kilometers away.
This earthquake of magnitude 2.8 took place at half past seven this Friday afternoon and was felt in the regions of Selva, Gironès, Baix Empordà and Maresme.
The Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC) confirmed that the phenomenon did not cause damage.
