An 87-year-old woman died this afternoon in a fire in a flat on Muntaner street in Barcelona, ??at number 30, as confirmed by the City Council.
The emergency teams have received a notice at 2:15 p.m. Ten crews from the Barcelona Fire Brigade have worked to extinguish the fire. The Emergency Medical System (SEM) and the Urban Police have also moved. In addition, the Emergency and Social Emergencies Center of Barcelona (CUESB) has been activated to care for family members.
Initially it had been possible to rescue him in critical condition, but finally the woman has died. The Firefighters have extinguished the fire around half past three in the afternoon and at the moment the origin is unknown.
The Mossos d’Esquadra have taken over the investigation.
On May 17, another fire in a building resulted in the death of a 70-year-old woman on Paseo de Sant Gervasi, in Barcelona. Two weeks earlier, on the 5th, another 85-year-old woman died in the fire at her home on Balmes street, at the intersection with Luis Antúnez street.
