Tragic news in the United Kingdom, where an 11-year-old boy has died after making a viral challenge on the social network TikTok. The events occurred at midnight on March 2, when the minor became unconscious and suffered cardiac arrest.

As detailed by the family to the newspaper The Mirror, the minor went to sleep at a friend’s house to celebrate a pajama party. It was there where he participated in the viral challenge known as chroming and which consists of inhaling toxic chemicals such as paint, solvent or fuel.

After falling unconscious, the boy was taken to a hospital, but doctors could do nothing to save his life. “The hospital did everything possible to try to revive him, but nothing worked,” the little boy’s grandmother detailed to the British newspaper.

The family has been very upset with the social network for the little protection it gives to underage users and alerts other families through Facebook of the dangers of TikTok for young people.

Chromeing is a viral challenge that emerged on the Chinese social network TikTok. The practice consists of inhaling toxic chemicals that may be present in aerosols, deodorants, paints or insecticides. The goal is, supposedly, to feel euphoria and mental alteration.

However, it must be taken into account that doing so entails significant health risks. These toxic substances can seriously damage the lungs and cause suffocation, and in the most serious cases, cardiac arrest and death.
