Amber Heard said that she didn’t blame the jury for awarding Johnny Depp more money than $10 million following a six-week-long libel case. This was Amber Heard’s first interview after her verdict.

Heard said, “I don’t blame them,” Savannah Guthrie, “Today” cohost, in an interview clip that aired Monday on NBC. “I really understand. People feel that they know him and he’s a beloved character. He is a great actor.”

Heard will be featured in more interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday by “Today”. Nearly two weeks have passed since the verdict. Heard was also awarded $2 million for her claim that Depp’s attorney defamed and she claimed this interview will air.

Depp sued Heard in Virginia for libel over an op-ed that she published in The Washington Post in December 2018. It described herself as “a public figure representing domestic violence.” Even though the article did not mention his name, Depp’s lawyers claimed that he was defamed.

The verdicts ended a televised trial Depp hopes will restore his reputation. However, it became a spectacle that provided a glimpse into a volatile marriage and left both actors with uncertain prospects for their careers.

Guthrie asked Heard about her credibility and what that meant for jurors in Monday’s clips. “There is no polite way to put it. The jury reviewed the evidence that you had presented. She said that they listened to your testimony but did not believe you. They thought you were lying.

Heard replied, “How could they have not reached that conclusion?” They had sat in the same seats for three weeks and heard non-stop, relentless testimony of paid employees.” Heard described them as “randos”, or random people.

Depp has yet to give a formal interview on the case but she said that the verdict “gave my life back”. Heard stated that she was devastated after the verdict, and her attorney added that her client had been “demonized” via social media. She plans to appeal the decision.

I don’t care about what others think about me, or what judgments they make about me about what happened in my private home, in my marriage behind closed doors. Guthrie was told by Heard that he didn’t assume the average person would know these things.

“You couldn’t still look me in my eye and tell me on social media that there was fair representation. Heard stated that it was impossible to tell Heard that you believe that this has been fair.

The Heard interview will be featured on Friday’s episode of “Dateline”.
