Alejandra Blázquez was a regular face for the press that covers information related to Isabel Díaz Ayuso but a great unknown to the general public. Until today, the head of protocol of the Community of Madrid is taking over the covers of all the websites and news in the country.

Armed with a simple red folder, Blázquez has managed to stop the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, in his tracks, when he tried to gain access to the guest gallery of the military parade for the May 2nd party in which the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, had not invited him.

“We beg you to comply with the regulations”, has been the explanation given to Bolaños’s team while one of his collaborators has insisted, “the minister of Spain has to go up”.

The dialogue has heated up when the chief of protocol has flatly refused to alter her plans: “The act is perfectly established and it is not going to be changed on the fly.” And at the insistence of the Bolaños team, she has blurted out: “there is already a minister of Spain in the rostrum.” From then on, Bolaños’s path was completely blocked, and he had no other option than to stand to one side of the stands and follow the parade at street level.

But who is Blázquez? This graduate in Social Work has been working for the Community of Madrid for 18 years. She first as a technical advisor to various ministries, such as Education and, since 2021, as head of protocol for the Madrid Executive.

According to what appears on the Transparency portal, Blázquez receives 75,667 euros per year although, as one of his colleagues ironized in Sol, “today he has earned an increase.”

When he does not design the protocol for the acts in which Ayuso participates, he is in charge of planning the design of the public-institutional activity of the Madrid Executive. From award ceremonies to official visits. “Always with seriousness as a house brand”, they point out from Sol.

But her work in the shadows will be, from today, more difficult as she has risen to momentary stardom on social networks after being the owner of the arm that stopped the minister in his tracks.
