The Civil Guard of Cantabria has arrested a couple aged 30 and 24 and is investigating a 58-year-old man as the alleged perpetrators of 19 forest fires caused in the municipalities of Polaciones, Tudanca and Soba. The couple has been arrested for 11 fires that occurred in Polaciones and Tudanca during the months of September and October of last year, which affected more than 446 hectares of tree, bush and scrubland surface.

After carrying out an investigation of the affected places, the Civil Guard concluded that the modus operandi used in all cases was the same, the application of direct flame to the vegetation. Thanks to this work, the agents were able to identify and arrest the two members of the couple.

Meanwhile, the 58-year-old man is being investigated as the alleged perpetrator of eight fires throughout the months of March, April and June in the area of ??Soba called Portillo de la Sia. Thanks to an operation by the Civil Guard, in coordination with Natural Environment agents, two of the latter observed the man causing a fire in the aforementioned area.

This video is of the extinguishing of one of the fires that could have allegedly started in April in that same location.

From there, the Civil Guard continued with the investigations and was able to link this man as the alleged perpetrator of seven more fires, for which he is being investigated for a continuing crime of forest fire, the same thing that the couple is accused of.
