A single actor, Andreu Benito, an intimate place such as the Barcelona theater La Biblioteca and the words of Dostoevsky. Those are the main ingredients that the company La Perla 29 uses to cook its next work, Orgull, which will premiere on October 13. The viewer will face the portrait of a very proud character who tries to remember what his life has been like and recognizes the harsh truth of his story.
“A protagonist that is easy to judge but with whom, despite everything, the public will end up empathizing,” the creators of the work explained this Friday during a press conference.
The show is a proposal by Benito himself, who has worked hand in hand with the director of La Perla 29, Oriol Broggi, based on the Catalan translation made by Miquel Cabal Guarro of Dostoevsky’s story, entitled Manyaga, published by Angle Editorial , the result of a collaboration between this label and La Perla 29.
“It is a work with little theatrical architecture around the actor. In fact, it is an intimate and close monologue that invites both the public and the artist to rediscover the essence of theater”, they concluded.
