A third canoe with 220 migrants on board was intercepted this Tuesday in the waters near the island of Hierro, according to Maritime Rescue.

The cayuco has been detected by the radar of the SIVE coastal surveillance system about 9 kilometers from the port of Restinga in the municipality of El Pinar. The boat “Salvamar Adhara” has gone out to meet him to escort him and take him safely to the dock.

According to the final count carried out by Salvamento Marítimo, all the migrants are in good health and in the cayuco there are 16 women, seven alleged minors and a baby.

With this rescue, there are now 413 migrants rescued this Tuesday afternoon by the Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue, sources from the Government Delegation and state society.

The first of the afternoon’s rescues was carried out by the Río Tajo Civil Guard patrol boat, which located two cayucos about 25 kilometers from the La Restinga dock with a total of 193 people on board and who are being escorted to the port of Los Cristianos (Tenerife), where they hope to arrive around 8:00 p.m.

The Government Delegation has not detailed whether among those 193 people there are minors or women; He has only clarified that all those rescued are in good health.

During the last week, the Ministry of the Interior has made a constant effort to refer the immigrants from the cayucos who arrive to El Hierro to other islands, to make their reception resources available, which are relatively scarce.
