Fira de Barcelona will once again be the scene of one of the most important beer events of the year. The Barcelona Beer Festival lands this weekend at the Montjuïc fairgrounds, where up to 400 local and international craft beers will be offered, which can be paired with dishes from eight Barcelona restaurants.

Some of these gastronomic proposals are Mama Pizza, Il Birrino, Al Karbon, Don Chingón, Al Cau del Vermut or Rooster and Bubbles, which will prepare everything from pizzas, focaccias and tacos to croquettes and chicken wings. The sweet note will be provided by the ArkaDelicatessen bakery with its chocolate Sachertorte with strawberry, while Nomad Coffee will have a cart where some of its specialty coffees will be served.

The organizers explain that they will have the most transgressive, innovative and ecological beers. Of course, those produced in Catalonia will have a greater role, which will represent 40% of the festival’s offering. Another 30% will be proposals from the rest of Spain, while the remaining percentage will consist of varieties made in countries such as Poland or Canada. Some of the breweries that will be present are Cervesa del Montseny, Garage, La Pirata Brewing, Ales Allugons, Basqueland, Dougall’s or Brewdog.

As a novelty, there will also be a stand dedicated to local and artisanal wines with representation from several Catalan wineries. All this accompanied by a wide range of activities such as tastings, pairings and showcooking, DJs and live music by Koko-Jean

The event will also host the InnBrew: The Brewers Convention fair, focused on the professional public of the sector. From March 22 and 23, producers, distributors and restaurateurs will be able to train and discover trends through technical presentations, networking, round tables and an exhibition space for products and services. Water consumption in breweries in times of drought or the use of waste are some of the topics that will be discussed.

And within the framework of this professional fair, the Barcelona Beer Challenge will also be held, a competition where a jury made up of beer experts will choose the best and most innovative beers. The winning proposals will be announced this Friday and can be tested during the three days of the festival.
