A man who raped eight girls in an Evangelical Church in Valencia is in prison

The TSJ of the Valencian Community has confirmed the information provided by the newspaper Levante-EMV of the prison of a man who allegedly raped eight girls in an Evangelical Church in Valencia. Court number 4 of Mislata has had these preliminary proceedings open since June 2023, which are what led to the arrest of the suspect by the National Police as the alleged perpetrator of five crimes of sexual assault against minors. The Police have recently presented a new report stating the existence of three new victims, bringing the total number of these to eight.

According to the aforementioned newspaper, it is a 30-year-old man of Paraguayan nationality. He was in charge of the Church choir and son of the prophet who directed it, who in turn, according to several of the complainants, exercised a strong influence on the faithful of this religious community in which spiritual practices were carried out, according to this information.

On February 9, 2024, according to the TSJ, “the new head of the judicial body, after receiving statements from two of these victims as pre-constituted evidence, called a prison appearance in accordance with the provisions of article 505 of the Prosecution Law. Criminal”.

After that appearance, at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office and the private prosecution, the judge decreed that the investigated person be placed in provisional detention, with notice and without bail, upon appreciating an obvious risk of escape and repetition of the crime. He also imposed precautionary measures prohibiting approach and communication with respect to the five victims counted at that time.

On April 12, the judge issued a new order in which he denied the request for freedom made by the defendant’s defense, since he understood that the risk of escape and repeat crime persisted, a risk that could not be avoided with less restrictive measures. than preventive detention.
