A man between the ages of 20 and 30 drowned this Tuesday afternoon on Rocagrossa beach in Sant Pol de Mar, in the Maresme region (Barcelona).

The 112 emergency telephone number received at 6:20 p.m. the notice from a witness that they had rescued a man from the sea, who was drawing water from his mouth and that they were trying to revive him, although when the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) arrived, with two ground units and a helicopter displaced, it could no longer be saved.

At that time, the beach surveillance service had already ended and seven calls have been received for the same event. For their part, the Mossos d’Esquadra have sent two endowments and the Generalitat Bombers one.

One of the notices was from a lifeguard who was on the scene to also notify that a person who had witnessed the events had an anxiety attack.

With this new fatality, there are already 21 bathers drowned this bathing season on the beaches of the Catalan coast, specifically from June 15 to September 15, as reported by the Generalitat Civil Protection in a statement.
