Agents of the National Police have arrested a 35-year-old man this New Year’s Eve after allegedly accosting a woman on the street, sexually assaulting her and trying to strangle her, in the Orriols neighborhood, in Valencia, according to the newspaper Levante-EMV and they have police sources informed Europa Press.

The events occurred around 4:40 a.m. on January 1, when a witness alerted Room 091 that she had seen a man trying to strangle a woman on a public street.

A police patrol traveled to the scene and allegedly found the man in flagrante detaining the victim. Apparently, the man had approached the woman on the street and sexually assaulted her.

The victim was taken to a hospital and the man, of Algerian nationality, with no police record and in an irregular situation, was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of sexual assault and was brought to justice this Monday at noon.
