A gas leak in a pipe during the Bernabéu outdoor parking works forces La Castellana to be cut in Madrid

The breakage of a gas pipe in the outdoor parking lot of the Santiago Bernabéu works in the heart of La Castellana has forced the evacuation of said road, reports Emergencies Madrid.

The accident took place at number 142 and all the workers on the construction site have been evacuated to avoid work accidents.

For now, the metro service at the Santiago Bernabéu station and road traffic through one of the capital’s main arteries have been closed.

By 10 in the morning, technicians managed to cut off the leak.

Several fire brigade and national police units have arrived at the scene to see the extent of the accident. In addition, surrounding streets are being evacuated for safety.
