A fire broke out in the early hours of this Saturday in the municipality of Altea (Alicante), near the AP-7 exit and one kilometer from the road, has forced the evacuation of around thirty residents of the luxurious urbanization near Altea Hills and to cut the TRAM line, the AP-7 and the N-332 in both directions, according to Emergencies 112 CV and the Provincial Firefighters Consortium.
At around 3:30 a.m. the firefighters received the notice to go to the area due to a fire in trees very close to residential areas and rapidly expanding due to the strong wind that was blowing at that time.
Since it was declared at dawn, air resources could not be mobilized until early this morning. At 4:17 the first evacuations of homes began; At around 5:48, Situation 1 of the Special Forest Fire Plan (PEIF) was declared, and traffic was cut off on the AP-7 and the N-332, in both directions, as well as the TRAM, between Garganes (Altea) and Calp.
A total of 18 fire crews are taking part in the extinction tasks, with two fire engines and a coordinator, and six aerial means (three of them moved from Valencia), plus five forest firefighter units. Likewise, two ambulances, one SAMU and one Basic Life Support from the Ministry of Health, have been mobilized preventively.
