A married couple and their two children who have been searched since yesterday are the first four victims, according to sources in the investigation explained to La Vanguardia. For now, the official death toll remains at four people – although some newspapers are already talking about 6 – and the number of missing people amounts to 14, according to data provided this morning by Government delegate Pilar Bernabé. Some data that could change in the next few hours.

And as the testimonies of the people who managed to escape the flames explain, there are still many people to be located, although it is true that during the early morning some of them have been found, which has allowed us to reduce the initial number of unlocatable people.

In the next few minutes, the authorities are expected to confirm new figures after firefighters and scientific police have already been able to access the damaged building to try to locate 14 people who could have been victims of a fire.

Likewise, the head of the Investigative Court number 10 of Valencia has opened preliminary proceedings this Friday to investigate the causes and circumstances of the fire that occurred yesterday in a block of flats in the Campanar neighborhood and has decreed the secrecy of the proceedings in order to protect the police investigations and the privacy of the victims and their families.

The magistrate has made this decision after receiving a preview of the police report, as she is on duty as an incident guard, and without prejudice to the measures that may be adopted in the coming days by the remaining judicial bodies of the city that succeed her on guard, as well as the court that finally takes up the case.
