A young girl was at the Fourth of July parade, Highland Park, Illinois when a gunman shot into the crowd. Seven people were killed.
Lily Genser (9 years old) stated that she believed the sounds during the parade were fireworks or part the parade when she heard them. She is now terrified of loud noises and knows that the sound she heard was gunshots.
Lily stated that Kamala Harris visited the area and we heard many police sirens. I was scared so I ran inside. After the violence, the vice president visited Chicago’s suburb of Chicago Tuesday.
Lily couldn’t fall asleep when she heard that the suspect shooter would be taken directly to her home.
She said, “That night, we slept with our mother and we didn’t know. I kept waking up with stomachaches just worrying.”
The shooting resulted in seven deaths and many injuries.
Authorities said that Robert “Bobby” E. Crimo III (21), voluntarily admitted to the shooting. Seven counts of first-degree killing have been filed against him.
Crimo, a rapper obsessed by the number 47, scaled an escape ladder to create a sniper’s nest before setting fire to unsuspecting paradegoers below. Authorities said.
