Cops are on the hunt for Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41.

Three people were murdered in what authorities are calling a domestic incident in Austin, Texas, on Sunday.

The incident took place around 11:40 a.m. local time in the 9600 block of Great Hills Trail, police said.

When officials arrived on scene, two women and a man were found shot to death outside an apartment building.

“We do not know if he’s in a car or on foot,” Chacon said. “We are requesting taxpayers to continue to shelter in place.”

On Sunday afternoon Chacon said the investigation was ongoing and officers were looking for hints, but confirmed the shooting was of a national nature and the defendant allegedly targeted the 3 victims.

At a subsequent news conference, Chacon confirmed reports that Broderick was a former deputy at the Travis County Sheriff’s Department.

There was a kid involved with the situation, and officers could locate and take the child into custody, Chacon said. It is not known what connection the child has to the alleged victims or suspect.

At approximately 4:45 p.m. local time, officers lifted the shelter in place order for local residents but requested them to stay attentive and alert the police if they see that the alleged suspect.

“We will transition in a search within this field to a fugitive search,” Chacon said.

The FBI is helping with the analysis.
