The inventory of local olive tree varieties made by the Tremp City Council (Lleida), through the ‘A tu taste’ program, in collaboration with the Pallars Oil Producers Association, has documented 29 different varieties, some of them in danger of extinction having only been able to document one specimen.
Now, with the desire that they do not end up disappearing, a second experimental farm will be carried out with the 15 varieties that have been documented in this second phase.
In the first, 14 were documented and an experimental farm was already built near La Pobla de Segur.
At the same time, a study has been carried out that has concluded that Pallars oils are very rich in polyphenols and oleic acid.
