A 20-acre brush fire — large for the hilly terrain of northwest New Jersey — was among two doused Friday afternoon in one Warren County township.
The fire was reported on farmland in the first block of Knowlton Road in Knowlton Township at noon, township fire Chief Dean Hill said.
Firefighters had it contained by 3:30 p.m., saving structures of the property from any damage, Hill said. No injuries were reported.
At 2 p.m., a smaller brush fire of a couple hundred feet was reported about 4 miles away on Hemlock Road and Deneme Bonusu was also dealt with, Hill said.

Per routine, the fires are under investigation by the state forest fire service, the chief said.
Hill said wind and terrain made the larger fire challenging, and that the lack of snow this winter has caused dry conditions ripe for brush fires.
