The incident took place at 3:37 p.m. on Houghton Street, where multiple trees were uprooted by the powerful tornado. The hardwood tree crashed into the family’s house, landing directly on the bed where the mother and her young son were resting.

Livonia Fire Department Chief Robert Johnson described the frantic scene, with all available units rushing to the location. A special call for the Western Wayne County Search and Rescue Team was made to assist in the rescue efforts.
