The Civil Guard has arrested in Solsona (Lleida) a man who bought state-of-the-art firearms in Eastern European countries to sell them to criminal groups and has seized 13 semi-automatic pistols and 1,100 cartridges at his home.

As reported this Saturday by the Civil Guard, the police operation that allowed the arrest, called “Centaurcat” and coordinated by Europol, has had the collaboration of the police of the countries where the weapons came from, including the Czech Republic. and Slovakia.

The weapons – 9 millimeter parabellum pistols – were freely available for sale in their countries of origin since they had been recalibrated, but in Spain they cannot be sold as a weapons permit is required.

The detainee bought them in those countries, introduced them illegally into Spain and, once here, they were converted back to their original caliber and became lethal again.

The police investigation began at the beginning of this year and the agents verified that the detainee had obtained numerous weapons that, being small in size, are among the most in demand by criminal groups.

In the detainee’s home and in a store he ran, in addition to the pistols and ammunition, numerous holsters and accessories to hide the weapons were found.
