One person was injured and four individuals were arrested following two separate shootings in Chelsea on Monday, according to officials. Chelsea Police Chief Keith Houghton reported that the first shooting occurred around 8:40 a.m. on Fifth Street, where a juvenile was involved in a confrontation with another juvenile. The injured juvenile was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the second juvenile, a 16-year-old boy, was arrested in connection with the incident. About 30 minutes later, another shooting was reported on Washington Avenue, where three individuals were arrested, and three guns were recovered. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the second incident. Police cordoned off both shooting scenes with crime scene tape, and bullet casings were visible on the sidewalk. Witnesses shared their accounts of the events, with one individual mentioning how quickly the police responded to the scenes. Another witness, Mitch Severt, who was working on a movie production nearby, likened the situation to a scene from a movie. Chelsea High School was briefly placed on lockdown following the shootings but was later reopened, and normal activities resumed. Chief Houghton stated that the investigations into both shootings were ongoing, with detectives working to determine if the incidents were connected.
