The arrests made by the Mossos d’Esquadra in Sant Adrià de Besòs (North Barcelona) have grown by 19.7% during the last twelve months compared to the same previous period. It is more than three times the average increase of the North Metropolitan Police Region, according to the data presented this Friday at the Local Safety Board of Sant Adrià.

The Department of the Interior links the increase directly to the increase in patrolling, since in the last year the hours of service have increased by 14.7% and the staff has gone from 83 to 99 agents. The Interior has also highlighted that crimes against road safety have grown by 33 percent, which has also been linked to the increase in police presence.

In this same sense, crime data from September 2022 to October 2023 indicate that in Sant Adrià crimes have decreased by 0.4% overall. As for crimes against property, these decreased by 1.4%, and crimes against people decreased by 1.8%, according to data from the Generalitat.

In the specific case of robberies, attacks on establishments were reduced by half, while forceful entry into homes decreased by 25%, and cases involving threats decreased by 28%.
