I captured this photograph for La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos of the sunset on Coma-ruga beach. The silhouette of a young woman can be seen on the shore, looking at the sky, as if searching for the trace of the last sun of the day.

The image is dominated by the candilazo, a meteorological phenomenon in which the clouds in the sky show a wide palette of colors ranging from pink to the most intense orange.

As part of the phenomenon of dispersion of sunlight, in the morning and afternoon hours, when the sun is closer to the horizon, the light that reaches the Earth is soft tones between red and orange.

Coma-ruga is a coastal town belonging to the municipality of Vendrell, although, until 1946, it was part of the old municipality of Sant Vicenç de Calders.

Coma-ruga beach, as can be seen in the image, is wide. It measures 2,300 meters long and its maximum width at low tide is 100 meters.

It is one of the most appreciated beaches on the Tarragona coast. Not in vain has it had a Blue Flag since 1988. In the middle of the beach, in front of the center of the urban center, is the Marina.
