The death of Concha Velasco marked the end of one of the most versatile artists on the Spanish scene. Singer, actress and presenter, the Valladolid native went from being a “yeyé girl” to a regular face in the television world, capable of carrying out any task without any problem, no matter how striking she was. From her dancing with Will Smith on his first visit to participating in a gag recreating his Vespa trip with Patricia Conde and Berta Collado.
Even so, the family environment had its particular braids, especially those related to his brother, Manolo Velasco. Although they both shared a very close relationship, there were always differences typical of sibling connections. One of them was expressed in public by Concha herself last April: the lack of visits by the person involved. However, it seems that this issue has already been resolved.
It was during that stage in spring that Giorgio Aresu, television director and former brother-in-law of Ana Obregón, confirmed the detail to the media after visiting her. He explained that he tried to get information from her about it, after knowing that they didn’t even talk on the phone, but there were no positive results: “she didn’t talk, she just started crying.” A feeling that arose before her death, after the two of them were able to discuss all of her pending issues.
El Español confirmed that this situation had occurred after the conversations they had at the time with Aresu: “I don’t know how to tell you much, but they have adored each other all their lives and Concha always speaks wonderful things about Manuel. He doesn’t usually come to Madrid much, he lives in a town in Segovia.” Despite these statements, the media reiterates that both were able to talk and tell each other everything that was pending.
“It has been three very hard days. I would like us to remember her as the artist that she was. Man, there are two things: one was the sister that she was and the other was the artist. So to me she will always be a sister and to people she will be a wonderful artist, and I guess they will remember her that way. We had our differences, what brother doesn’t fight with another brother? And the only two, well imagine,” she explained in words to Europa Press, her first after what happened.
Regarding the issue of visits, Manuel Velasco, Concha’s son, clarified that no one had been prohibited from attending the residence: “We have not prohibited anyone from visiting and I consulted everything with my brother, who is a saint.” baron like his father, well, like my father because for me Paco Marsó was my father. What happened is that we organized the visit based on the doctor she had on Mondays and we asked her who she wanted to come and if she told me I want Bárbara Rey to come, she would come.
