With Christmas comes school holidays and this means that children will have much more free time at home. Therefore, we must find ways to entertain them and thus prevent them from abusing the use of screens. In this context, crafts are proposed as an ideal option for them to have fun, as well as to stimulate their hand-eye coordination, psychomotor skills and creativity.

But not just any craft will do. On these dates, the best option is to opt for creations inspired by Christmas, a time that makes the little ones in the house especially excited. Let them make the most of their artistic skills and their Christmas spirit with the following ideas, where you will also find options that encourage recycling. In addition, all of them will be used to decorate the home, or for children to give as a gift to a family member or friend. Let’s do it!

For this idea you will need paper or plastic plates, colored paints and cardboard, glue and all the ornaments you can think of: eyes, pompoms, cotton, glitter, wool… On a plate you can recreate a Santa Claus, a snowman, a reindeer or an elf. You will only have to paint, cut out and paste decorations until you find the desired design.

An excellent alternative to reusing toilet paper rolls is to turn them into Christmas figurines. Paint them and glue different elements such as shiny cardboard, eyes, pompoms, pipe cleaners and other ornaments until you shape different figures such as an elf, a snowman, a reindeer, Santa Claus or the Three Wise Men.

Recreate some Santa Claus mittens to hang on the tree or send as Christmas cards. Dip the palm of the little ones’ hands in white paint to stamp it on red cardboard. Then cut out the shape like a mitten and decorate it with glitter, paint and cotton balls. You can customize it to your liking.

For this craft you will need transparent plastic cups. Draw the figures you want to put inside the snow globe on a piece of cardboard and glue them on a cardboard base the size of the glass. Then, put artificial snow, cotton, sugar or Styrofoam inside the glass to finally stick the lid to the glass upside down.

Draw the silhouette of a Christmas tree on a piece of cardboard with glue and cover it with fine salt. When it has dried completely, children can paint it with watercolors. They will love seeing how the salt quickly colors when you place the brush on it.
