Exports from companies in Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l’Ebre grew by 20.9% this past October, reaching 1,042.9 million euros, according to data published by the Ministry of Economy. This region is positioned as the Catalan region with the greatest growth in exports. Chemical products, with 332.5 million euros, continue to be the main product sold abroad – 31.9% of the total – although in October they experienced a drop of 7.6%. Along with them, consumer manufacturing registered a growth of 55.9%, reaching 208.5 million euros – 20% of the total.
State data also reflect a considerable increase in imports, which reached 1,823.5 million euros, with a growth of 51.2%, leaving a negative trade balance of 780.6 million, compared to 342.9 million of 2022.
In the accumulated so far this year, between January and October, exports have registered a more modest growth, around 2.4%, reaching 9,022.6 million. Imports continue clearly above this figure, with 15,233 million and an increase of 3.4% during these first ten months of the year.
The negative trade balance increases from -5,918.6 million in the same period of 2022 to -6,210.4 million this year. Chemical products, with 3,314.6 million, and capital goods, with 2,193 million, have been the main exports.
