The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has warned of a significant change in the weather during this weekend, which will be dominated by an anticyclone that will bring dry and stable weather in much of Spain.

This meteorological phenomenon, commonly associated with clear skies and absence of precipitation, will not be cause for celebration for everyone, since the formation of fog is also expected, especially in regions such as Galicia, the Cantabrian Sea, the Northern Plateau and depressions in the northeast of the peninsula. that could cause visibility problems.

The Aemet specifies that this Saturday morning, these areas will experience heavy fog, while strong gusts of easterly wind are expected in the Strait. On the contrary, mostly sunny weather is expected in the rest of the Peninsula.

In the afternoon, according to the agency’s information, the wind is expected to die down in the Strait, giving way to clear weather in most of the country, along with a decrease in fog in the Canary Islands.

As for temperatures, a decrease in minimum temperatures is expected in almost the entire Peninsula, with frost expected in the mountains, the Northern Plateau and the depressions of the northeast. At the same time, maximum temperatures will decrease in the Northern Plateau, in the Ebro valley and in the Levant peninsula due to mist and fog. However, in the mountain systems of the northern half, an increase in maximum temperatures is expected.

A similar trend will continue on Sunday. Clear skies will predominate thanks to the anticyclone, but fog is expected on the Northern Plateau, which will cause a drop in temperatures. In addition, strong winds are expected in both the Strait of Gibraltar and the Canary Islands.
