December 23 is a very marked date in the calendar of the Swedish royal family and this 2023 has been even more so. Added to the Christmas commitments is the celebration of the birthday of Queen Silvia of Sweden, who turns eighty years old this year. On the occasion of her birthday, her eight grandchildren wanted to surprise their grandmother and organized a surprise party for her at the royal palace in Stockholm. Without King Carles Gustau’s wife being aware of it, the youngest members of the family dressed up for the occasion with pointed golden hats and waited for the arrival of the protagonist in silence. In the center: a round table decorated with garlands and a giant pink cake with eighty lit candles.

The eight grandchildren of Queen Silvia of Sweden are the children of Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Magdalena and Prince Carl Philip and Sofia of Sweden. Princess Estela, the eldest daughter of Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, is eleven years old. She is the heir to the throne and future queen, after her mother. She is followed by her seven-year-old younger brother, Prince Óscar. Princes Alexander, aged seven; Gabriel, six, and Julià, two, are the three children of Prince Carlos Felip, the only male child of the kings. Princess Magdalena, the third daughter of the king and queen, has three children: Eleonor, nine, Nicolau, eight, and Adriana, five.

The latter, Princess Magdalena, shared on her social networks a photo of the precise moment in which the Queen of Sweden blew out the candles, surrounded by her eight grandchildren. The Swedish royal house has also echoed this on its official account with a very emotional video in which the children are seen decorating the table where the birthday cake was with garlands. Likewise, the moment when the queen appears in the room of the royal palace in Stockholm by surprise and sees all her family gathered around a large pink cake is also appreciated.
