This morning I captured this spectacular image for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia of a helicopter flying over the castle of Eramprunyà, in Gavà, in the Baix Llobregat region.

In medieval times, the castle of Eramprunyà came to control the current territories of Gavà, Begues, Castelldefels, Sant Climent de Llobregat, Viladecans and part of Sant Boi de Llobregat.

Built as part of the defensive system of the border between Al-Andalus and the Carolingian Empire, it was owned by the counts of Barcelona.

Today, the remains of the castle can be seen on top of a mountain between cliffs with magnificent views of the Llobregat Delta and part of Garraf.

Although the views from the helicopter must surely be spectacular, what is really worth it is taking a walking tour to visit the castle.
