Agents of the Spanish National Police have arrested the boss of a well-known clan of the Camorra or Neapolitan mafia, Nicola Rullo, at the luxury hotel El Plantío Golf Resort in Alicante.
Claimed internationally by Italy for his membership in a criminal organization, Rullo was a prominent member of the camorra and his location has been possible thanks to the direct exchange of information and the coordination of investigations through the Italian liaison officer in Spain, according to sources from the National Police.
Italian authorities consider Rullo as one of the key members of the Secondigliano Alliance clan and directly responsible for the clashes that have taken place against the Mazzarella clan for control of Naples.
The detainee, 53 years old, had been wanted by Italy since September after his sentence to four years and two months in prison for the crime of belonging to a mafia-type association.
Rullo had been staying at said luxury hotel in Alicante for at least 20 days and had the intention of celebrating the New Year’s Eve party there, according to Italian media reports.
