The Catalan Agricultural Institute of Sant Isidre has denounced that the Generalitat has “no intention” of complying with the agreements adopted in Parliament on the Zone of Special Protection for Birds (ZEPA) of the Baix Llobregat region which, among other issues , ruled out its extension.
In a statement made public this Wednesday, the Agricultural Institute regrets “the new attempt by the Government to resume a path that does not provide a satisfactory response to what the environmental services of the European Commission are asking for.”
In addition, the institution affirms that the Generalitat’s position on the Baix Llobregat ZEPA puts Catalonia “at the risk of sanctioning proceedings and a millionaire fine by the European authorities”.
The Institut recalls that in two resolutions, one presented by JxCat and the other by the PSC, the Parliament agreed “on the imperative need to discard the expansion projected in July 2022” or not approve a new delimitation if a negotiating table has not been established. work and there is no great consensus, among other issues.
In the statement they also criticize the refusal to dialogue by the Acció Climà tica department and the entire Government, which they accuse of betting on “harmful and highly detrimental ideas for Catalan society, such as economic decline.” Also, for betting on the “climate criminalization” of the farmer or “the inconvenience of having more and better urban and peri-urban services.”
The organization regrets that the Climate Action department has entered “a dead end” from which “it is very difficult to get out” in a “normal” way, which leads us to think “about alternative routes taking advantage of the fact that we are less than a month away from the elections”.
