The Valencian Ministry of Health has announced several measures to address the increase in flu and covid infections. Among these, it is not ruled out to resort to “collaboration of private resources in order to reduce as much as possible any care tension that could be registered, and a framework of public-private collaboration will also be sought.”

Among these measures, Sanitat expects hospitals to adjust the programming of surgical activity, enhance home care and reinforce staff. In addition to promoting home hospitalization in nursing homes in cases where this resource is ideal; as well as the reallocation and prioritization of social resources.

These measures have been agreed upon in the meeting held between the Minister of Health, Marciano Gómez, the director of the Office of Socio-Health Coordination and Integration of the Valencian Community, Manuel Escolano, and representatives of the general directorates of Hospital Care and Economic Management, Contracting and Infrastructure.

The flu has quadrupled in the Valencian Community in the last week to 551 cases per 100,000 inhabitants – 287.21% more than the 142.3 of the previous week -, while covid infections have decreased by 10.15% to 222.2 cases compared to 247.3 cases in the previous period. For its part, the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) has grown by 33.92% to 258.2 cases compared to 192.8 cases seven days ago.

The Minister of Health, Marciano Gómez, will meet next week with the managers of the health departments of the Valencian Community to analyze the implementation of these measures.
