Is the tower of a castle in Sau looming? The low level of water in the swamp leaves the old mill of the town of Sant Romà exposed again.
In addition, you can see that the reservoir is at a minimum by looking at these photographs of the dam, captured for La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.
The reservoir, inaugurated in 1962, covered the town of Sant Romà de Sau, the remains of which, especially the church bell tower, are visible when the level of the dammed water is low. The houses and the mill are also well visible.
The Sau reservoir, located in the municipality of Vilanova de Sau, is at the foot of the Guilleries massif. It is part of a system of three reservoirs, along with those of Susqueda and Pasteral, which unites the counties of Osona and La Selva.
The current resources in the reservoirs in the internal basins of Catalonia continue at 17%, while, specifically, the Sau reservoir is at 6.72% (last year it was at 19.17% at this time).
