A 29-year-old man was brutally hit by a car at the Puerta de Toledo roundabout in Madrid early this Wednesday, while carrying an iron fence, presumably with the intention of throwing it on the car that, seconds later, ran over him.

The events occurred near the door of a nightclub on Toledo Street, near the La Latina metro station between 5:00 and 6:00. According to information from the National Police, the injured man had had a previous altercation with the occupants of the vehicle who threatened him with a knife.

The occupants of the vehicle, a driver and his companion, both 26 years old, initially fled but were arrested minutes later after parking their car in the Center district. Both face charges of injuries and threats.

The victim was seriously injured, suffering several fractures and a head injury, and was rushed to the 12 de Octubre Hospital by the Samur-Civil Protection paramedics.

Also on Wednesday, another accident occurred. In this case, the victim was a 59-year-old woman who was transferred to the Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda hospital, with a head injury and a broken arm.

The events occurred on a street in Collado Villalba. The woman was hit by a car and then trapped under the same vehicle.
