The Civil Guard has investigated the driver of a car that was traveling erratically along a section of the N-332 highway near the municipality of Torrevieja, eventually invading the opposite direction of the road.
The events occurred on the night of December 15, and were observed by users traveling on said road, receiving numerous calls warning of the danger that such driving was causing.
At a certain moment, the vehicle in question took an exit with the intention of joining the urban area of ??the town of Torrevieja, traveling about 400 meters in the opposite direction, finally colliding with a parked vehicle. Before she could leave the scene, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was detained by witnesses present at the scene until the arrival of the Civil Guard patrols belonging to the Torrevieja Main Post and the Torrevieja Traffic Detachment. .
The driver, a 49-year-old woman of Belgian nationality, was subjected to alcohol detection tests, registering a rate three times higher than the permitted level. As a result of the above, she was investigated for two crimes against road safety, one for reckless driving and another for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages. The person under investigation has a history related to crimes against road safety.
Thanks to citizen collaboration, a probable road accident with greater consequences was avoided. The Penal Code establishes, for those responsible for these crimes, a penalty ranging from 6 months to 2 years in prison, and the deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles or mopeds for a period of 1 year to 6 years.
The driver under investigation, along with the corresponding procedures, has been placed at the disposal of the Investigative Court number 4 of Torrevieja.
