This Friday, April 19, the sixth day of the trial against Daniel Sancho for the premeditated murder of the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta last August on the Thai island of Koh Pha Ngan was held. After a five-day recess for the celebration of Songkran or Buddhist New Year, the Provincial Court of Koh Samui resumed the judicial process this past Wednesday, which will last until May 3.
The first two lawyers who represented the Spanish chef and the translators who were present at his statements when he was arrested were the next witnesses to speak in front of the judge today. However, the most striking thing about the last day of this second week of trial were Silvia Bronchalo’s statements.
The accused’s mother had not spoken in front of the media about her son’s high-profile case for more than nine months. Throughout this time, she has remained in the background supporting her son. But despite not wanting to speak to the press, Silvia Bronchalo was one of the first people from Sancho’s entourage to arrive in Thailand to be present at the judicial process.
And although he could not attend the first day of the trial due to health problems, Bronchalo has not missed any of the remaining oral hearings. This Friday, Ana Rosa Quintana’s program exclusively broadcast the first words of Rodolfo Sancho’s ex-partner upon leaving the Provincial Court of Koh Samui.
”She appears very cautious unlike the actor Rodolfo Sancho who always enters and leaves the court with a big smile and even jokes with the reporters,” reporter Alejandro Rodríguez began by saying. Moments later, the Telecinco program broadcast images of Silvia Bronchalo as she left the court in which she appeared cautious about the progress of the trial. ”I don’t know, I prefer to be cautious. There is still half of the trial left, so it’s better to wait a little,’ she declared.
However, Silvia Bronchalo’s words are not the only thing that has happened in these last few hours. This past Thursday, the program Let’s see revealed that of the four knives related to the crime of the Colombian surgeon, only one of them had DNA from the surgeon and the chef. ”This single knife appears and is sent for analysis two weeks after the crime. Furthermore, it is not part of the list of items that Daniel Sancho supposedly bought to commit that premeditated murder,” said journalist Álvaro López.
